week four blog

I was wondering if Suleiman's mother really actually does love her husband? I understand that she lives in a very repressive society for women, but since she is talking about leaving now in the book I'm curious to whether or not she actually did have feelings for him since she hadn't already left.

  1. Well I agree with your thoughts about how she never truly liked him judging by several things. When ever he left she got "sick" and she didn't get "sick" when the dad was around so I think it was her thoughts toward her husband weren't good. Now that she is leaving him and used to become "sick" when he left leads me to believe that she never truly loved him.

  2. I am not sure that she never loved him. Because earlier on in the book she seems genuinely concerned about their lives when he returns after one of his trips. I think that the stress brought on from him not being home often, resulted in her becoming lonely, and forced her to leave.
